Glasgow Ordinations

Congratulations to the first permanent deacons ordained in the Archdiocese of Glasgow. The twelve candidates were ordained on Sunday 28th June, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul by Archbishop Mario Conti.

In his homily, the Archbishop said: “In the administration of this sacrament, by the laying on of hands, the mission of the Apostles is continued…

“As deacons you will serve Jesus Christ, who was known among his disciples as the one who served. Do the will of God generously. Serve God and humanity in love and joy.”

The twelve men range from 40 to 70 and were ordained after following the five year National Programme which is run in collaboration with Maryvale. They have been assigned to parishes in the archdiocese, hospitals and some are continuing their studies.
